Speakerface is created and operated by graphic designer and hip hop artist
Tony “AWOL One” Martin, from a humble and mysterious studio in Southern California. He has created a legacy of music, art and screen printing for over thirty years, growing up on a heavy dose of
cartoons, old sci-fi, and monster movies.
Musically he has collaborated and toured worldwide with renowned musicians, as well as licensing music for commercials and movies. He has has been featured in many major publications, and has received an L.A. Weekly Music Award for best Hip Hop Artist (The Shape Shifters).
AWOL One has released numerous records and also created a successful monster themed children’s book and soundtrack. He is best known for his collaborations with Fake Four Inc producer Factor Chandelier and
Grammy Award-winning audio engineer and record producer Daddy Kev.
Artistically he has designed and screen printed for all types of creative projects, mostly in the music industry. He has worked with both corporate and independent companies and has assisted visually in many marketing campaigns (Tour posters, band merchandise and product design). Along with his other group
The Cloaks, he released a sold out IPA beer collaboration with Hip Hop Craft/ Beer Tape.
Tony has also contributed voice acting and music for video games. AWOL is well known and trusted throughout the art community because of his respect for the culture and is the originator of
the boombox head!
Tony has maintained a strong and loyal fan base for remaining original, unusual, dark and melodic with a weird sense of humor. AWOL One will continue to produce and create content with collaborators while maintaining integrity and quality for his projects, client deadlines and family values.
